Dog Mode ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Dog Mode app, which connects to your Google Home devices to create a comfortable environment for your dog.
We have designed this app with privacy as a core principle. We collect only what is strictly necessary for the app to function.
Information we access
To control your smart home devices, Dog Mode requests access to your Google Home account via Google's official OAuth sign-in. Through this connection we may access:
- The list of Google Home devices linked to your account
- The ability to send control commands to those devices (e.g. adjusting thermostat, lights, or speakers)
- Your Google account name and email address, used solely for authentication
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your Google credentials or tokens to our servers
- We do not collect your location data
- We do not run background processes or track device usage beyond your explicit actions
- We do not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking tools
- We do not collect any personally identifiable information beyond what Google provides at sign-in
How your data is stored
Your Dog Mode preferences and device settings are stored locally on your device only. They are not uploaded to any external server. If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is removed.
Google Home permissions
Dog Mode accesses your Google Home devices only when you actively trigger Dog Mode or deactivate it. We do not monitor your devices continuously or in the background.
You can revoke Dog Mode's access to your Google Home account at any time by visiting your Google Account settings at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Third-party sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties. Dog Mode does not include advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics services.
We use a third-party AI service to generate activity summaries from your anonymized usage patterns (e.g. activation times and durations). No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
Children's privacy
Dog Mode is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
